Every time somebody discovers something wrong with an MS product, it is always described as a 'major' flaw.

What does make me smile though is that people think they are safer with Firefox, yet it is no more or no less secure than IE.

 
It just seems that the hackers hate Microsoft with a vengance and always write programs to get at it.

While Firefox is no more secure there are a lot of apps written by third parties to beef up its security.

Any further info? I assume it will upload itself when you shut down the pc?

I noticed that Internet Explorer had disapeared from my PC the other day, installed Firefox, I see its back now . Have they repaired the leak , do yju know ??Deke

A Firewall & A Anti-Virus Software are prerequisite..

Two of the PC's out our house did it automatically..

went onto windows update site manually to make sure others were all up to speed! ;)

p.s.

that bit wont make sense when apache goes back and edits his previous post!!!

As Apache say's if you have your computer setup for automatic updates then any security updates etc will be downloaded and installed this can apply to both Windows and any Microsoft products you may have loaded on your laptop/PC

 
You can check if the patch (not the Vet!) is installed on your PC by going to microsoft updates website & checking your update history....

e.g.

Microsoft Update

Click on "Review Your Updates History" in left hand box.

and look for update:-

"Windows XP Security Update for Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP (KB960714)"

Security Update for Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP (KB960714) Security issues have been identified that could allow an attacker to compromise a system running Microsoft Internet Explorer and gain control over it. You can help protect your system by installing this update from Microsoft. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.

How to Uninstall

This software update can be removed via Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.
