Hello all,

I am looking for your collective advise regarding IR heating panels. I have built myself a lovely new workshop, 3 x 6 x 2.8m and Im looking to heat it. Im looking for real life uses of IR panels to heat the space whilst in there in the long winter months. I plan to install it on the ceiling so as to maximise the available wall space for other stuff. Anybody got some advice?

Cheers.

I fitted them in my outdoor gym log cabin, which has a similar volume to your workshop.

I fitted 2 x 600w.

I use them to keep the internal temperature at a minimum of 10degrees C throughout winter to avoid condensation coming on all the metal equipment.
I use a smart thermostat, so I can control it anywhere.

They are great on the ceiling as they are out of the way, plus that is where they are most effective.

They take ages to heat the room up to 15degrees when I want to work out.

Insulating your workshop is probably equally as important as heating.

Fitting a 150mm extractor fan, with vents on the opposite wall (low down), would greatly aid air flow and decrease chance of mould, condensation etc. Again, I have it on a smart device, switching on and off periodically every day.

Enjoy your lovely workshop!
