Is Google listening ?

Just looking at a post on Youtube  ,  guy does an experiment  to see if the ads change after he has spoken about a subject for a while .  

He holds up a card that says  " Dog toys"    then checks the ads on various Google sites  .

He then talks about "Dog toys" for two minutes  and re-visits the sites .  

Sure enough a couple  of them have changed their ads to dog toys.  

Is there any credence to this do you think ? 

Are we now in the year of "Big Brother is listening "  of 1984. ? 

I'm just playing my guitar  and a load of ads have appeared  for ear plugs   :C :C

I don't have a microphone on my PC so they would have to be really clever to listen to what I am saying.

But didn't Samsung admit one of their smart tv's was listening to you?

Yes they did ! 

I see it on Amazon all the time  but I expect & accept it  as its a trading site .       I download  books  all the time  so when I log in they always show more books in the same series or similar books in that genre .  

Don't know if its a conspiracy theory  but its said that the microphone on your cellphone can be remotely activated  ,  any views on that ?  

I know your provider can locate  an approximate position of your phone  because it checks in to the nearest cell every 15 mins .

I also notice that my new pointy finger phone can be located by Google   if lost  (  and if I enable it )     (( and  I haven't !!))   ((( and I won't)))   

I love conspiracy theories  mad or not .    

There was something that I  would have followed up had I been personally involved .    Our friend's daughter when  about  11  /  12  yrs old  joined some sort of pen pal scheme at school ,  a letter came from her pen pal in Poland  also 11 / 12 yrs    ...  taped closed &  stamped  " Opened by the official censor "    That was a new one on me  .  TBH
