Hi,

I recently moved into my new home and I noticed at the bottom of the garden that there were wires drilled through the brick wall. I looked over the wall and there we're spot lights and a large fishing pond. are these wires safe and also is this aloud. They are white cables and some got to the lights and maybe another to the pump.

Is there somewhere I can post pictures on here

Thanks

Pictures would be good  Leg End   .  You can't usually post pics until you have 10 or 12 posts but if one of the Mods reads this they will usually unblock that so we can see them .

Much better to see pictures .   If they unblock ,  go to bottom R/H of  post , click on "More Reply Options "

Follow the cables and see where they go.  Try describing how they connect into the house.

you would be looking to make sure all cables are safely out of the way (not just running across a flower bed) and plugged into a proper waterproof socket or junction box, and most importantly protected by an rcd.

So when you are able to post pictures, include pictures of all the bits you can find not just what's at the end of the garden.

If you have just moved in and the property is over ten years old it may be worthwhile getting a full electrical inspection carried out on all of the circuits. This would verify the condition and safety of the whole instalation. Dependant upon the size of the property and the number of circuits this would typically be anything from half a day to a full days labour. Wiring regulations guidance recomends that instalations are tested every 10 years or change of occupancy.
