and the hinges on the LH open it up to 4 feet.  My Dad

had one.

That one is a folding 2'.......when folded it will be 6"

I have a folding 3'.................when folded it is 9"

In the pic the left hand end does not appear to be hinged, merely brass ferules on it. If hinged there are usually visible hinge pins showing

Just.........being a tad anal about rulers, sorry!..........it is doubtless a medical condition

Sorry to be a tad anal (when did that phrase come out?),  but its not a ruler, it is a rule.

The tape measure is there to prove that things were not in fact bigger in the old days ( like wagon wheels etc )

Its 12"  to the shoulder of the brass hinge .  Folding 2Ft rule   Used to be a lot of those about .
