I see I'm in line for a massive 1.5% increase in January!!! That's cracking after a pay freeze for past 3 years!!!

Wouldn't mind having the apprentice wages if I was still living at home though!!! Better than what I got by a long shot!!!

if you don't like it, go self employed and see how much harder you have to work to earn same money, then appreciate how hard your boss has been working to keep you employed

i agree with blinky.

if you dont like it, and think you can earn more ... then im sure your boss wouldnt mind loosing you.

like i said to one of my lads who asked for a pay rise,... its the wrong time to be asking for pay rises, there are people willing to work for nothing at the moment and there is undercutting happpening on every quote untill its not worth doing the job.... i havnt taken any more money out of my business for the past 3 years ... so if i was you i would be happy with the 1.5% and the fact you still have a job .

Rant over.

:)

Being self employed is easy, keeping employees in work and trying to meet their expectations whilst being a conscientious employer in a climate of tight fisted customers is really difficult. I could easily sack the lot and de-stress my life, in fact I'm not sure why I don't ]:)

15 moaning sparks in the tearoom this lunchtime.... i had to get out. 15 sparks moaning about only being paid

the last time I did any site work, I just couldn't believe the amount of time wasting and 'work avoidance' that was going on. But I do think sites have got into a poor place, where the mentality is like being at school - fault for this lies with both sides, ie management and workers.

paid leave, what's that then??? :D :D

don't think I could stand being back on the books. Too many companies treat staff as idiots, but then quite a few staff behave like it. I've trained my staff (all one of him) to try and be responsible, and manage his time without me breathing down his neck - it's all about trust. Sacked last apprentice because I couldn't trust him to work when I wasn't looking, might aswell just do job myself.

All the guys I work with have been moaning that we are only on 8 hours and they want at least 10- 12. Well today we got told we have to work 10 hours from tomorrow onwards for at least two weeks. They all closed ranks and flat refused as the agency were only paying standard rate for the extra two hours. Well I have always worked on the understanding that the first 50 hours a week were paid at standard rate before overtime kicked in, but no, these layabouts were kicking their heels in. Until told that well, if you won't, then someone else WILL!

As I have said, they don't want to put a decent day's work in on normal hours, moan about only being on 8 hours, then turn their noses up at an additional 2 hours! I can't understand them!
