Hi All,

I have dabbled with electrics here and there since I was a young lad (I still am but hey!), finally I have started my journey to become a professional.

I have recently enrolled in an evening course - C&G 2365 Electrical Installations.

I work alongside an electrician voluntarily every weekend (and weekday when possible) as a mate, to gain that ever important experience and knowledge, which you cannot technically gain from working on evening class workshops.

I am a mature trainee, very optimistic and level headed.

I gladly welcome any advice, suggestions or even opportunities to progress in the industry.

For now, I am new and wanted to say hello to the fellow tradesman.

Hello ACDCharlie...

welcome to the forumbulator...

well so far you seem to be making the right descisions...

the only other advice I could say is...

If you are ever looking around for any decent electrical test gear at competitive prices ..

with top notch customer service...

You MUST have a look at our forum sponsor...

http://isswww.co.uk/

Give Mark or one of his team a call tell them what you are looking for....

and I am sure they can find something to meet your requirements...

Loads of other members can also vouch for the service and value for money you get from ISSWWW

Thank you Roys.

Thank you all, much appreciated!

I'm glad it seems I am doing it the right way, that's reassuring.

I know you said there are no daft questions NozSpark, but to find certain Topics, or to start a new topic for a particular area, where do I start?

Again, thanks guys.

Click on the main Forum tab on the left.

Select the forum area where your question best matches for example Question & Answer or General Electrical Chat etc. don't worry too much if it is in the wrong area, one of the mods will move it if it is way off.

Once in that forum area click on 'Start New Topic' which is a black and white box on the right (ish) side of the screen.

Hope this helps

Search facility on top right of every page.

Nice to see someone who is trying to do it right as well...

Too many get a piece of paper then go,in all, guns blazing!

Read some of the questions on here from "so,called sparks".....quite frightening at times....considering that a few posts earlier they were saying how experienced they are

NozSpark - Not to worry, thank you for your help and response.

Roys & Kerching - That's perfect, thank you both for the detailed help and for the swift response. I've noticed a few strange questions from "experienced" electricians, I will keep an eye out!

I appreciate your help all!

Welcome ACDC  .    You'll get plenty of help on here , stick with it .

Make the most of all the practical experience you can get , there,s no subsitute for it .    Are you doing a "day job"  other than electrics ?

welcome Charlie,

few things,

dont be in awe of me, dont be thunderstruck in my presence,we dont do any dirty deeds on here, just do stuff with a flick of the switch,

some guys even work with high voltage, myself, its usually more domestic and all is rosie, remember, take your time, its a long way to the top,its a dog eat dog world out there, dont let the riff raff walk all over you, you need to stand up for yourself , you'll end up shot down in flames, then you'll be in danger,

but, get yourself educated, and when the time comes, go for it, moneytalks in this big bad world,

lets get it up to speed, are you ready to get to where you want to be?

being here , its not showbusiness, just sit like a fly on the wall for a bit if you want to,

then, if you want blood, fire,!

:)

Thank you Evans, I appreciate it. Most definitely, I'm just glad I have the opportunity to gain the much needed experience, along side my 2365 course.

I do have a day job, I work for a marketing firm (office based) Monday to Friday. Not the most practical but it works well around my course and I have free time on the weekend to work as a mate.

I would rather be working on an electric/trade job during the week, but hey!

Thank you Steptoe! - Your advice definitely helps as I haven't entered the industry yet! - I'll watch out for the riff raff!

I am still learning, working hard, I haven't thought too much whether I want to move into domestic, commercial or industrial, any thoughts? (Quite a ridiculous question).

In the mean time, I will remember your advice and when the time comes, I will take take the leap into the electrical world!

Some people love Domestic...others have more sense!

Just my opinion but.....

There are too many at it

There Must be one new Spark rocks up at wholesalers each day, done a ten minute course. Main part of course was signing the cheque in a legible style and buying loads of books.

Plethora of ***** accessories available at the big DIY sheds

Wholesalers who will,sell,to anyone

No policing of Industry...although others will tell a different story

SCAM providers are more concerned about marketing and associated sales.

RIP OFF prices for literature

An industry on its arshe

Just saying......

Just to say by the way...it is accepted practice to insert the following Smiley icon when in the presence of the esteemed Steptoe .... :Salute ...............................................................................

...................or was it this one ?........... :maria:
