Well for me if your not wanting to use galv tube I'd go with....... RCD on the circuit for starters, run cable in safe zone of appliance below plaster level, then below worktop go surface & take the dog leg into the cupboard.

Now if I were doing it I'd use galv tube & run diagonal across wall, connect with bush to single backbox behind chimney of hood & same below worktop, below the worktop fit a flex outlet plate so you can then loop the flex into the cupboard's surface mounted pattress.

As for using galv tube in a kitchen I've always used it for cooker circuits between the ccu & outlet behind the oven, only takes a few extra mins to measure cut bend & pull in conductors.

 
I'd drop some metal copex down the cavity with both ends poking out of the wall. Is this on an outside wall?
