Doing an install on a cabin today pulled the cables down a piece of conduit in for 1 ring circuit to metal clad sockets, Then another ring circuit for some blue 240 sockets, then a radial to a single socket for an ACUnit,

Looked at the drawing after to find out which phase these will be feed from and then noticed that the metal clad and ACUnit are feed from L1 and the blue 240 sockets feed from L2,So i brought this up with the gaffer and got on to the ppl who designed the drawing and asked them about it basically they came back with it's ok the cable is designed to carry 500v and it's ok.

Had a word with 2 more sparks about it and we all said thats B*****ks.on the basis that if the plugs or sockets were ever changed there could be a potential of 230v L1 supplying a pc monitor and 230v L2 on pc tower.

Any ideas if i'm right or wrong can't actually find it in the regs to verify it.

Thanks

There used to be a stipulation that the socket outlets be at least 2m apart.

Never been a problem with having different phases in the same containment.

It's a military installation and they have some odd ball stuff they use.

Thanks for the replys lads
