evans electrical is right on the button fibre glass inhailed causes the lungs to produce the same symptons os absbestos we all dont get it but then again we all dont get liver problems from drinking or lung cancer from smoking but why take the risk wair a mask and a good one at that

Any form of foreign body enetering the lungs is a bad thing, this organ has litttle in the way of defence (if anything)...
Not quite so. There are a number of defence mechanisms in the lung - starting with the hairs in your nose, mucus and little wafting hairs to trap particles, resident immune cells.........

Still agree it's bet to wear a mask!

I do a bit of woodturning in my spare time and I have one of the origional Trend air shields. They are a fantastic bit of kit. The fan wafts you in cool air and keeps things comfortable on hot days. I find it quite claustrophobic wearing a dust mask. Ignore the price on trend's website - they can be picked up for much less. (

Yes, I am aware of these mechanisms, but preventing such alien particles entering the body (the mask) is far far better, than having the lungs and throat throwing out unwanted yuk...

(and for smokers some of the defences are working full time and less efficient (If not destroyed by))

:D
