Interestingly I remember reading a report a while back now were heat damage was very common on compact flori fittings, PL lamps have had this problem and from all makes. I know it sounds a bit nerdy reading all the surveys and reports, but someone has to do it :)

I am down your end at the beginning of June, looking forward to a couple of weeks living TOWIE, instead of trying to miss it when its on the TV.

take it you have had alot of trouble with tamlite (cef ) then find some of their stuff a bit outdated and over priced
It's known by another name try replacing the L with sh then you know.

Although i agree Tamlite is garbage, most plastic globes out in the open will deteriorate with age. Same for 2D fittings, in a typical block of flats with the lights on all night you will be lucky to get 10 years out of the best ones before they go brittle.

Brittle Slips!

I have just replaced about 16 Tamlite 250/400W SON floods.

They could be identified as needing replacement from the ground.

Client was not happy, however I was not willing to give the client an "acceptable" PIR with these lights in place as I considered them dangerous.

Client spark went up in the air to change the first light.

He got up there in the basket, then proceeded to undo the pivot bolts to tilt the fitting to disconnect it.

The whole front glass fell from the lamp onto his feet in the bucket.

NO injury, but it would normally have been over an area where members of the public would have been.

The fitting was mounted at the top of a lamp post, not sure of the exact height, but, I would say dual carriageway height column.

Some of the lamps had outlasted some of the fittings!

I fitted a car park full of tamlite fittings lamp posts and bollards. They seem to have lasted OK so far. Main problem has been they can get knocked over, that is some of the bollards. They have been put up quite a few times but I think eventually they may need replacing.
