I will re phrase that.Wrong. MR16 means multifaceted reflector 16/8 of an inch in diameter. MR16 lamps are available in GU5.3, GU10, E14, small bayonet etc, and can be 12v, 24v, 120v or 240v.
The ones you describe with 2 thin pins are GU5.3.

Be VERY careful. The fault could be on the neutral so it may still be live
