whats the largest 'normal' single phase MCB readily available?

63a is the biggest Ive ever fitted, its running on a C63 atm,

hitting peaks at about 74amps on occasion, albeit only for seconds at a time,

and I have suspicions its whacking a LOT more for fractions of a second, although my meter isnt reacting fast enough to record it I dont think,

should I be concerned , or is a C63 enough,?

Well, if the C63 is not tripping, it is obviously ok!!

80 or 125 A MCB's are all very good, but is the particular DB you have approved to have outgoing devices that big.....

john..

its not a normal db,

its the sub in my own house,

100mA TD with a C63 and a B16 beside it,

just worried about someone being in the shower if Im welding and the compressor decides to kick in at the same time,  :|

I replied to this, and my reply disappeared,  :C

another bug,

the other thing Ive noticed is that quotes sometimes overquote the next post you make ,,,   :|

Yes I have just seen that in your post above. @Admin 3

One thing to remember that the normal domestic supply is only delivered as 15kW which at 240v and power correction of 1 is equal to 63amps.

Just saying

If it's a submain, then personally i would fit a pair of henleys and freed the submain from an 80A KMF switch fuse, not the main CU.

I have to ask, what's in the shed (if it is the shed) that's drawing more than my entire house.

its the sub to my CU,

my CU is not at source, so I have a REC2 -- 100mA TD -- C63 -- house CU -- C40 -- shed

also have a B16 beside 100mA TD feeding a d/skt and outside skt,

whats in shed,?  :slap

fit a BS1202-1 instead
:slap

had to google it tho,  :D

de it,

just worried about someone being in the shower if Im welding and the compressor decides to kick in at the same time,

i would be moving the welder and the compressor out of the shower as a safety precaution anyway

and as for the  BS1202-1..... :slap

must get some

around here bsen.iso  14341:2011 is a favourite

So forget a C63 in a CU, and put a KMF there instead with 80A fuse.

I wouldnt have enough room to fit a KMF tbh,

I could probably 'make' room, but too much hassle, and moving all the cables and stuff,

just thought if I coulda swapped out the C63 it would have been an easy do, I still need the 100mA TD and 16a MCB

the 100mA and 2x MCBs are in a REC4 enclosure,

I think its a dodgy picture Dave

and, its 60898 so surely the external dimensions should be near standard, although little else is with that standard,,,,,

well, thats that sorted then,

its not gonna happen,

and yep, looking at the Hager again, its wider too,

looks like Im sticking with the C63,  :innocent
