Hi all,

What are these things like?? In the electrical place they have got 10w and 20w ones. How much light do these things give out?? What they like compared to a "proper" 500w light?? Got to admit, everything else "LED powered" has been, to put it mildly, [ok, only torches and stuff] not very good....

john..

ive got a 30W LED floodlight from CPC, fitted it onto an old 500f floodlight frame and use that. no where near as bright as a 500w (or 300w), but still gives off a lot of light. its also whiter so seems brighter

also got a 10W batteyr LED light from ebay last week (see thread by someone else). not had time to try it properly yet, but it still bright

Ive got a 500w halogen in my back yard at about 12' high, and its like a blooming football pitch floodlight,

fair enough, Ive only got a small back yard,

I took my rechargeable 10w LED out at the weekend and held it up beside it to see the difference in light,

I reckon I'll be putting 2x10w LEDs up to replace the halogen,

reason for 2x10 rather than a 20 is purely to space out the light better, and future access.

I think they are excellent.

Cheaper to run, no maintenance costs of changing lamps like the rotten halogen.

Yesterday I fitted a 10w and 30w. Have also fitted 40w & 50w and think they are all excellent.

500w halogen is old hat.

OK, so what would you all expect to be a general equivalent to a 500W TH?

I realise it is all down to lux/lumens etc., but I was just wondering what the collective qualitative experience was?

^^^+1

the different colour of the light output makes them 'appear' brighter as well,

so imho, its not purely the lumen output either, but the appearance of being brighter too.

blue lighting is best for gardens, plants reflect UV so, blue kind of highlights them. Have fitted various LED floods, seem pretty good though hard to put finger on hoe bright they are as lighting efffect is different, partly becuse of being cool white. Council has done some of the street lights, lighting effect is very different, especially compared to orange SON lights they have replaced. Seem to give brighter, but much more direct pool of light. LED achieves its outputs by focusing all light forward as part of not wasting energy scattering light in all directions.

Are there any Led floods on the market equivalent output to a 250 watt son looking at warm white not sure you could get output with warm white.
