I am looking at starting my own business doing minor electrical work and pat testing. Can anyone advise me on the best place to get liability insurance from?

Good tip thanks evans electric:slap and thanks everyone else for your advise

I got a good deal through Trade direct but it pays to shop around. It's the same with the van insurance too. I used one of the comparison sites for both of my policies.

Once again thanks everyone.

Daft question the prices you have all quoted are these per month or per year?Sorry to sound dim:Blushing

Prices will be annual fee. Also with Trades Direct you can use blow torch etc without any extra costs, however in the insurance it does require you to have a fire extinguisher and also to check the site once finished and remain onsite for about another 15 mins after using this type of equipment.

Robin,

Many hot work endorsements are 1hr on site after completion of hot work, and this even applies to your own premises for those who have workshops and it has been this way for 30 years now!

I'd check if I were you.

I wish my insurances were that cheap, mention 3rd party design, or consultancy in any form and things go ballistic!
