My mate wants me to change a pendant to a light fitting with a pull cord for the fan blades i dont know if his house is 3 plate method or in singles. Is there sw for light plus perm live for fan pull switch needed in these or is just sw needed?I cant say ive put one of these in.I mean you dont want to be able to just use the fan pull when the light is on , ideally when the light is on or off plus he wants a one gang switch changing to a dimmer?help please

As Steppers says   I would'nt bother dimming it TBH .

Those fan / light things need an earth ...most have pull chains hanging off them for light  and fan speeds .    Some come with a remote like the TV .

If not 3 plate  either leave it switched on or short the L & SW .

I would also be concerned about the height of the blades when fitted

by the sounds few diff ways for few diff makes google the brand and type of light to be safe. you dont want to be putting extra perm lives in places where they shouldn and you want it to work. basically live ur live like me and ask the google gods

All the ones I have fitted just have one feed. They often have two pull switches, one for the fan, and one for the light.
Well there you go, all the ones I have ever fitted have always had 2 feeds, sometimes they come joined but instructions show to separate themif needed.

I have been asked to fit a few where only the switchline was at the light so I got remote control types
