hi folks.

need some advice. one of my cousins light blew in the living room however this took out the whole lighting circuit. i tried resetting the breaker but doesnt work. cut a long story short i never had any ****s so the old light is down bt not connected up! got a live, 2 neutrals and an earth. the two neutrals arent connected together so would that mean the other lights wouldnt work because of this?

or could it be just a faulty breaker. any other ideas?

cheers

try an IR test, remember to remove all of the lights first. This will indicate if there are any shorts, cos if there is a short this is why u can not reset the MCB.

connection wise at the pendant....

N & N (N LIGHT)

L & L & SL

SL & (L LIGHT)

EARTH x 3

^^ what matt says. You could also try putting the live into another 6a breaker on the same side of the board, this will tell you if it's the circuit breaker or the circuit. But try what matt said first as the bang test shouldn't really be used.

What board is it?

What test equipment do you have?

Cheers

its an mem one. only got voltage testers. i havent done anything really yet. going to it tomorrow so wait and see.

was just after some help!

I would have thought there must be a dead short on the circuit somewhere not letting the circuit breaker to reset. Did another bulb blow too and is shorting out line and neutral. Let us know how you get on tomorrow matey.
