Climate change is natural event and always will be. But with the amount of trapped energy we are releasing in the form of hydro-carbon fuels mankind is definetly adding to the problem/ changing the natural weather patterns, by releasing huge amounts of energy into the whole eco-system, plus upping CO2 to trap the heat. So in short, more energy (heat) means bigger weather patterns, which in turn means more extremes of weather, which includes incredibly cold winters sometimes, but mostly manifests as more rain. Nothing we do is without consequences, some good, some bad.

Ozone layer still has large hole in it, but it is beginning to heal itself due to slow natural processes.

Either way the way we live isn't sustainable, and I want to leave the planet in as good a condition as possible for the sake of my son, and hopefully the grand children.

Population apparently reaches 7 billion today!

Back to Binky`s O/P.

My local, national and MEPs, have all just had my thoughts.

Like many others in the country, I have invested a not inconsiderable sum into diversifying my company into solar PV and other renewable initiatives. To find out today that we have less than six weeks before the industry is decimated by the FIT cuts, is, in my opinion, disgraceful.

I have customers who have booked, and paid deposits on installations between now and March next year. Unless I can magically find a way of installing them all in five weeks, many of them will be cancelling their orders, and demanding refunds. As of this morning, I, like many of my colleagues, are expecting our businesses to fold under the pressures.

When we have failed to meet the EU renewable energy targets, and the country is hit with huge fines from the EU; I expect that we, as taxpayers, will again be expected to pay.

It would appear that all the rhetoric from the government, regarding boosting the economy and creating job prospects is simply nonsense - is it only the "man at the coal face" who sees another successful industry being destroyed? I do not have statistics to hand ( I am currently trying to placate as many of my customers as possible), but I would be willing to estimate that the resultant job losses & bankruptcies from this short-sighted decision will outweigh any job creation programmes currently in operation.

On behalf of all small businesses in the solar PV market

Yours sincerely,
It`ll probably end up in a bin in some park somewhere - but I feel a bit better for it

Binky

the ozone layer has always had a hole in it,,,,,expands and contracts

The sun has its own cycles

which contributes to the global warming.......

Solar cycle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

governments scare people by not giving all the info

and why ffs are we importing lamb from NZ the furthest point from us ?????

whats wrong with our lamb ???

if they were really that bothered we would not import it !!!!!!!

rant over for now

yes but remember CFCs that made hole extremely large causing serious UV damage to people, livestock and property in Austrailia and New Zealand.

And remember acid rain caused by pumping huge amounts of carbon and other nasty gases into atmosphere destroying woodlands and fresh water life in Noway from pollution from UK power stations.

I am very aware of sun-spot activity and its links to climate change, but if you light a fire in your living room, does it not get hotter, and if you stoke the fire up does it not get too hot sometimes..

I have studied Green issues as part of my MSc. The planet will survive mankind's stupidity, the question is will mankind?? ( and how many unsuspecting species we destroy in the process).

Anyway as KME said we are totally off topic. Perhaps we should start a new green thread?
