Anyone taken a close look at the first photo connection terminals?

I assumed this had been repurposed (badly) as a junction box, given the terminals used.

I think those of us who have been around the industry for a good while will have seen a lot of poor workmanship like this and nothing causes any great surprise to us anymore other than how people have got away without serious injury or death
