So then , 1 year ago went selfemployed and now work is coming in thick and fast , have work booked in untill aug , and that's with doing 6 day weeks ... And long days !

I would like to think I am fairly priced at 220 per day and 30% on materials

At what point do you take some one on ? And for them who have what advice can you give ?

Cheers

Good to hear Danny.

May I ask if you could look in the Jobs and Apprenticeship's forum, if you are going to take someone on please? (Note I said look). ;)

Best Regards,

Admin.

I will certanly look , need to get things sorted first , need a bigger van first, and then need to get all the paperwork sorted as well

I would agree with Deke use a sub contractor employees have too many rights. You need to discuss the implications of employing somebody with your accountant if you have one. I tried taking a lad on a few years back big mistake worse thing I could have done. I probably got the wrong one he actually slowed me down so I was taking a lot longer doing the jobs that I priced for so was losing money. If you are going to take somebody on make sure its for a trial period. Sorry to be so negative but I am glad things have worked out ok for you.

Good to hear you are busy Danny, I hope it keeps up for you. Is your work coming from several different customers or just a lot of work from one or two customers? Before taking on an employee you need to think what happens if your biggest customer stops any further work.
