Hi Guys , are any of you in the Masons? I have been asked by a friend if I'd be interested in joining , he hasn't told me too much about it, only that it's a group of like minded people who do a fair bit of charity work and socialising .. That's about all he's told me so far , are any of you guys members ? Would you recommend it ?

Cheers

I'm not a Mason, but I know a few people who are. A am a member of the Round Table, which is another misunderstood organisation.

There are some strange rituals with the Masons [trouser leg rolling, starting with your left foot] but it is fundamentally just a structure that raises a lot of money for charity whilst having a good laugh and a drink or two.

I'm young and the Masons around here tend to be older [45+], I wouldn't rule it out, but nor is it my lifelong ambition to join.

If you are younger [18-45] I can highly recommend the Round Table.

Nothing wrong with the masons, not a member myself but my old man is & he loves it.

I've said no when asked by a lodge member about joining, at the moment with kids & work time is a precious commodity so didnt think it would be fair on Mrs 107 or the kids.

Patch its a rolled up trouser leg while wearing an apron, white gloves & wearing a horned fur hat, while carrying a pebble & working your way across a chess board:slap

well i am a mason and have been for 4 years now. i am only 30 in a couple of months. there are fellas of all ages in it. i really enjoy it and have made some great friends. you get as much or little out of it as you want. my advice is do it.

How is King Arthur these days?

I am a Brother, so are a lot of my friends - Masonry is not just about Charity - although this is a large part of it, rather it is about living life in an honourable and moral manner. Ages range from 21-106, and Masonry is working extensively in recruiting younger members - they are the lifeblood of the organisation i.e. the University programme

it is also friendly and sociable.

Yes there are 'Secrets' contained within the ceremonies, but these do not go against any moral, legal or religious obligations we all have(or should have!!) as members of society at large. Masonary is not a secret society, it is a society with secrets - as much as any other.

There are no goats, bloodletting or other paganist rites practised, although you do have to have a belief of a supreme being, be that God, Allah or any other single Diety.

I wholeheartedly reccomend you check out the United Grand Lodge of Englands website and your local provincial website (County). if you google these you will find a wealth of info, you willalso be able to speak to other Masons who will advise further.

Regards....................SteveT:)

You forgot about having to hop around with your right breast out whilst showing your left foot :slap
