I have replaced my existing lamps with GU10 LEDs that are dimmiable. Two circuits one has 12 lamps and the other 6.The LEDs are 5watts equivalent to 35watt.Im after a electronic 2 gang one way dimmer unit and have found one but on reading the spec it specifies a max of 10 LEDs max on a single circuit when I have 12 .I have a 6 amp mcb on the circuit . My thoughts are that this circuit will either flash, not dim as required or fail to turn off????

Hi

yep 18 down lighters on two circuits 12&6  they do cover a large area.

Hi Scoot, are the 18 lamps all fed from the same mcb?

What make and model are the lamps?

Do you want the same make of faceplate for the switches as elsewhere, if so what is it?

What make and model dimmers did you find which don't quite cut the mustard, but you liked.

thats 2 switches then.

FYI a circuit normally covers a number of rooms.

If we are into bragging, ours has 24 (3 areas, each with 2 + 6)!
Well if we are playing Top. trumps LEDs we have 30 in 'two areas'..

in one of them  we have a 5 gang switch on a Standard UK single plate...just saying

Hi

ok two gang switch feeding two sets of ceiling strips of LEDs. LEDs are LAPS dimmiable 5 watt equivalent to 35 watt....I'm looking at a electronic 2 gang switch from Varrilight v-Pro IR .....

cant find any info for LAP, some say they are not that good,

found the info for varilight  IR http://www.varilight.co.uk/leaflets/V-Pro IR Dimmer Instructions 916.pdf says they can be switched between leading or trailing edge dimming. Recommended Max load is 100W, you have max 12x6W=72W which seems ok, but we don't know the power factor of the lamps, might be as low as 0.5

Ok peeps thanks for all the replies I'm sort of taking it that this dimmer is OK to install even though it says 10 per switch and I've 12 but the wattage is low.thanks
