Hi Doc,

Yes, i had it because my mum was a primary school teacher and used to bring it home from school!! It was a clear sticky gum as i remember. [Being glue i suppose it would be sticky!!] As you say, it was used for paper and stuff by the kids!

Gloy.....had a rubber "teat" atop the bottle from memory and was a sort of light brown colour from memory. 

 
Gloy Gum was still around when I was at school. We also had large squeezy bottles of what I now know was PVA, which was fascinating to spread over your fingers and then peel off.

Yes, i remember the "Gloy" was in a bottle with a red rubber teat/spreader attached..

My mum also used to bring home "powder paint" that you had to mix with water. Then in later years, a sort of ready mixed paint [Rowney??] in squeezy bottles [paint for the dispensing of] and clear sticky back plastic, great for attaching labels to parcels!! and also the white PVA glue....
