Got the boy a 500GB Samsung EVO 850 SSD for Christmas to go in his Win 7 64-bit gaming pc.

He placed it in an external USB caddy and used the Samsung migration software that came with the SSD. Appeared to finish cloning aok.

So he's put the new SSD in the pc on the same port as the old SATA drive. It won't boot, we just get this message:

Spending this evening on the net trying to sort!

Any ideas?

Cheers

Cheers all. For some reason it didn't list the SSD in the BIOS?

Now have put the original SATA drive back in, booted from that and re- cloning this time SATA to SATA.

Not using the Samsung software either but Macrium Reflect which the nerd herd online seem to rate.

(EDIT: I've used that Samsung software (Samsung Data Migration) that came with the SSD twice now when upgrading laptops and it has worked flawlessly as in I was seriously impressed. Quite why it didn't work for my boy I don't lnow.

Cheer Steps for the offer but he already has the legit 7 disc).
