there are some files on my office PC that i would like to be able to access at home

i was thinking of using a NAS to keep the files on so i dont need to keep the PC on all the time. i would also need it to appear as a drive letter

is there any easy way to do this, or am i stuck with USB drive and remebering to sync it?

<2gb try dropbox. You cou also look into vpn.
ive had a quick look into it myself. general concensus seems to be avoid FTP for security issues, with preference to VPN

anyone know is VPN will work with a NAS or does it need a computer? if it will work as a stand alone unit, then i think thats the best way to go? any recommendations for a NAS?

id rather not use dropbox or some other online site

I can second the Draytek routers they are very good, I have not even got anywhere near the limits of mine.

I can have 4 totally separate wired networks and another 4 totally separate wireless networks if I want, or any combination of the 8 pretty much!

It has 3 WAN connections, ADSL, "Cable" & GSM.

You can only use 2 at a time but it will load share down the 2 so conceivably I could have the fastest Virgin media BB connected to one port, the fastest BT ADSL to another and a 3G modem on the other, or 2 ADSL etc.

If any of the hard wired links fails it will start up the 3G.

It will load share down the 2 WAN connections to get the fastest data transfer.

They are very often used in broadcast applications between stations etc. so they are very robust.
