In the office again.
Before we start.....I know EXACTLY what to do with the end product, thanks very much :slap

We`ve been doing work on a local microbrewery (5 barrel plant).

For those that don`t know what that is, every brew they make is enough to fill 5 brewers barrels (36 Gallon) - i.e. almost 1000 litres per time.

They`ve been that successful, they`re expanding to a 50 barrel plant.

I`ve got no spec. on the kit yet - but need a rough idea how much juice we`ll be drawing, to get DNO`s costings on the transformer etc.

PLUS - they`re buying a bottling plant - again, I don`t have a scooby-doo how much power it`ll use....

Anybody had any dealings with this kit, who may be able to provide more of an informed opinion than my "best guess"??

Thanks

My mate has a 5 barrel plant and it draws 18kw when he's boiling a brew, dont know if this is any help whatsoever but its all I can be out of him, he says most bottling stuff is 230v/ pneumatic.

Where is the brewery at???

Matt

Gower, south wales mate.

We pull 24KW boiling the mash - 9KW all night topping the heat up on the HLT - plus all the coolers, transfer pumps, etc.

But I can`t envisage something 10 times the size having a pair of 120KW elements!!!!! Presume the heat will be derived by other means............

Thanks for bottling info though :)

 no idea................................. :|

but....

if you need help disposing of all the free sample you will get.... Guinness

Just post the bottles up here! :Blushing

you know the thing that p***** me off so much,

and this is the 2nd time KME has been doing brewery jobs,

he never asks me to help him on these jobs,

south wales is only a short commute from my van to the pub!  ;)

you want to get some alternative energy soucres, like solar thermal, PV or bio mass - see if you can use waste product to fuel energy requirements, it is alcohol after all!

i'll work for beer and bacon butties :^O

CAT - centre for alternative technology is in mid Wales so might be worth a chat, plus Swansea university has a strong chemical enginnering department - could be a really good project for them to get involved with with a view on using surplus alcohol, bio mass, or bio-digester technology - side line business in food waste disposal. Basically think artificial stomach, produces methane which is used for fuel. Could take waste for malting supplier for a start. Langage ice-cream just outside Plymouth has gone down this route, very successfully.

Mmmmm.

Really excited by the prospects of this idea...........I`ve already emailed the uni, see what they reply with.

It`ll be interesting to see what the brewery owner consortium comes up with, when I put it to them - but I`m thinking (hoping) they`ll be excited by the idea :)
