The old 8 year old second hand pc has given up & now the kids are in or rapidly approacing secondary school I think it's time to invest in a new one.

Any recomendations?

Will be used for my work stuff & mostly the eldest daughter's home work.

intel core i7 ?

Apple ?

Budget upto

Apple is the geek in the corner with no friends. It may be clever but there's all sorts of things that don't like talking to it!

You can get a cracking PC for that money. We talking whole set up including a monitor?

I have a flat screen monitor ( I urmmmmmm picked up somewhere) so only the base unit required , but it is only a standard unit not HD or the like (not that a HD one is required).

I only say it to wind you up ;)

My 'problem' with Macs is lack of familiarity. It's that bit different I don't like it. I'm sure I could get used to one. Windows does not have the stability issues of old, I haven't seen the blue screen of death in years!

oh, so dont you ever go on holiday then Apache?

maybe that would be too different,

and I suppose you still drive the same car you sat your driving test in too, or is that just being silly of me?

I know,

you married the first girl you kissed! cant be having anything different now, can we, familiarity and all that!

BTW, even on LINUX (now I have a 20th century PC) I can run Ubuntu, WindowsXP(&7), and MAC OSX(I think it is? [leopard] ),

I still dont have a clue as to how to actually do anything on any of them,

but it makes me look like a GEEK! :D

look to your left(or right), its a big world out through that window, and its not all bad. ;)
