Hi to you all. I am new to this. I am a apprentice served sparky now working in the luxury motorboat industry.

Welcome to the forum mate. What boat builder do you work for if you don't mind me asking ? Motorboat - princess motor

Cruisers? Ive been brought up on yachts but not motor cruisers. Big money to run

thanks for the welcome. yes its Princess Yachts. Big money to buy, big money to run

ha ha, yes not the nicest of smells but I try not to do too much of that. Stick to wiring and testing as much as I can!

Lol I like the smell of it honest. I bought a little yacht a few years ago and have gutted it and started again. Rewired it fitted it out with cooker toilet etc but run out of money sk on hold for the minute.

Dont you just love the prices of marine equipment. Think of a number then double it! lol

As your into boat electrics can I pick your brain sometime soon as the old man is having a few little problems getting the radar to talk to the decker / gps using nmea ?? If that means anything to you?

Also gotta love the price of marine electronic stuff it's a joke.

The old mans just bought sea-pro for the laptop which is navigation program. Like sat nav but for the boat and you can see all other vessels on screen.

Speak soon matey.

Matt

Hi Matt, will try to help if I can. Yes nmea is the kind of international language enabling different makes of equipment to interface with each other. normally the gps will connect to an input to the radar. More than likely a case of connecting a cable with the gps to a cable that comes with the radar.Probably just a pair. The installation manuals would show which colours.Dont know if this helps without more info

hi everyone, having a little difficulty navigating around the forum, hopefully will get used to it. just being a bit computer illiterate I guess!

Thanks Andy, had some posts the other day(first day on here),seem to have lost everything! Was asked something about marine electrics but dont know the outcome!

Welcome to the forum st3v3. I just had a quick root around you past post history and you had, (accidentally I presume), deleted your previous introduction thread. So I have undeleted the previous posts and merged them back onto these new introduction posts. Hope that all makes sense?

Doc H.
