does the NIC Approved contractor scheme accept 3 year calibrtion tests with self testing with a calcard and socket outlet inbetween?

If you check monthly against a reference box and a designated socket and record your readings, the NIC does not require the instrument to be calibrated unless the readings indicate that it is required.

Cheers. Chris

Thats correct. We have not had any calibration done for 3 years now. We also compare readings between our different test kits & record them

you do not need them to be calibrated as long as you keep a record of reading,we have 3 test kits and compare the reading between them and also use a check box

I have always wondered how you you actually prove your Rcd test readings, earth fault loop etc when doing this is it actually in calibration and what if something does go wrong and you did not have a yearly test Cert on your meter, Is it negligence !!

Calcard & then I use a dedicated rcd socket outlet for rcd test & Zs

As do I; and our assessor has been happy with this for years.

I only have one MFT in the company, but I yearly do swapsies with 2 other members of the forum, for a cross-check with their units, too :)
