Hello all,

Just had a call about a job on under cabinet lighting in a kitchen, one light fitting is a bit charred and now the rest won't come on, I'm guessing the problem with the rest is probably the transformer u/s so intending on replacing the transformer and the now blackened light fitting, but is this notifiable as its a like for like change but is in a kitchen. Only just done my ELECSA assesment so still a bit unsure about what is notifiable and what isn't.

Thanks Andy,

didn't think it was but just wanted to check - by the book and all that! I'll do a minor cert for it and leave it at that.

also concur, you are repairing damaged accessories making things safer, and even if I an wrong about that cos its a kitchen, I wouldn't notify anyway or issue MWC cos I'm also a bit bloody minded about unnecessary paperwork for trivial repairs X( .

Incommmiiinnngggg :^O

Just do it Bluey !!

Your post has made me wonder about notifying. Say you change a light fitting and fill in the paperwork and notify it, does the scam provider then inform the LBC and what the hell do they do with it . Good grief !! talk about bloody red tape , I find it hard to believe sometimes .

I'm changing a 5ft tube tomorrow , do I need to install an RCBO to the circuit, test the rest of the building, issue a PIR or EIC , notify my scam provider, inform local government , have my steps checked for H&Safety and pay for a licence to transport the dead tube on the public roads back to the wholesalers for recycling. :D :_|
