page 162 OSG

When quoting for a re-wire and a customer only wants 1 socket outlet in a bedroom and 4 in a kitchen. What do you do? I was checking over the regs and can't find anything on it except the table in the OSG which as we know is a guide and not the regs.

Any help folks?

Can only do what being paid for. It's not a safety issue by any stretch.

Note it.

I suppose you could point out the requirements or do as they ask.

Then go back later when their :C why the tv,dvd stereo, phone chargers won't all fit in the 1 socket.

Just do what the customer wants , they're paying you, as long its safe of course.

On quite a few bathroom refurbs, without building control, clients didn't want a fan fitted , so I don't fit one .

I have seen installs pulled up by building control due to only one socket outlet being provided for a bedroom. The guide is so that no socket outlet will be overloaded by various plug in adaptors, and yes Lee it can be a safety issue, many fires have started in the past because of this overloading on one socket.

As always you should show evidence as to why this is in the OSG, the size of room will always have a bearing.
