During WW2 , when the Danes realised that (a) They would be invaded and (B) they realised what was happening to the Jews in Nazi Germany, they got 99% of Danish Jews out of the country and sealed up their houses and busineses.

When the war was over and the Jews returned, not one property had been looted or vandalised.

That must make Denmark one of the most civilised countries in the world ??? :Applaud

It's a shame they are cruel to animals.

Do you know why Danish bacon is cheaper than British bacon? In Denmark the pigs are tied up at all times so they can't walk about and burn unnecessary calories.

The practice was banned in Europe many years ago, but Denmark and Holland have an ongoing extension.

If you want decent welfare for your bacon - buy British. What they do is cruel.

Bacon = cruel practice, Jews = very kind, I see a trend.

On a serious note I was unaware of any of these facts, just shows you never know.

Thanks Patch , won't be buying their bacon then, we buy British from butchers in Lichfield, can see the pigs wandering about when you pass the place.

Can't abide cruelty to animals .

I was never convinced Danish bacon was very good. Someone once pointed out that they also tend to send us the meat from male pigs, which is why you get a strange odour from it due to hormones or something. Not sure if this is true, but why let that get in the way of some viking bashing :^O

Patch I read somewhere that when a pig is slaughtered (not humanely of course) that they scream like humans, and this is the more likely reason that some religions banned the eating of them

It could be a load of nonsense of course

Another fact about pigs...........Army medics/surgeons train by patching up gunshot & blast traumas on pigs

&

Some munitions (hesh rounds & tungsten darts) were tested on pigs.

Why

Because they are the one animal that closely resembles human flesh/body make up.

And i believe they were dead before they carried out the experiments

Correct on the ammunition testing, carcases were packed into obsolete centurion tanks, then they were shot up with direct fire.

Medics.... I was told by arelative who was a naval anesthetist/medic that they were given live pigs with gunshot wounds to sedate & patch up post 1982 barney with the Argentines.
