Ok guys, im pricing up some outside lighting on a hotel, no access from roofspace or from inside so cable has to come round outside of building, brick work is cotswold stone and really swa would look a bit crap, so what would you guys use for running external lights on cotswold stone where cable has to come around the outside.

Thanks for any advice in advance

Pyro, less csa required and smaller than any hituf or swa. Proven to last in extreme conditions, what could you not like about using it??

I was about 200 miles away from home the last time I had to do an emergency connection with pyro. To hand I had a scredriver, sidecutters and a set of long nose pliers.

I managed OK.

Pyro is one of the only cables that is tested properly during installs, every connection has to be tested before termination to prove continuity and Ir.

If only every cable was treated with the same respect.

I think you can only go with a black cable TBH Switch .   Pyro in black PVC  ,  FP200  or Hi-Tuf .

Can't get better than Pyro but bare sheath will get verdigris outside  ( turn green) I'm afraid , and orange will fade in sunlight & look carp .

Sidey ...  after due consideration and looking at it from all angles and turning it inside out and running it up the flagpole to see if anyone salutes it ..........................I'd say no..not a good plan ;)

As in previous post , orange pyro on normal orangey brickwork can look OK but the colour is'nt stable in sunlight and looks really carp after a while , the clips often remain original colour  which makes it look worse.

If its real Cotswold Stone the walls will go all over the place and the joints will be soft as hell.

Anything clipped will look a mess, can you not rake out the joint and put FP in it.

Is FP suitable for being burried out of zones now then?
Well it's a bit better than T&E buried, as for zone well you can do what you can.

Bare Cotswold stone internal walls with switches and sockets, rake out joint as deep as you can and snake your cable round in the joint, unless they accept galv conduit or demolish wall you can only do what you can.

Not sure that raking out a joint on an external wall is an acceptable method TBH , although I can see where you are coming from .     Just because the customer doesn't want to se a cable doesn't make it OK .

Just saying ...
