Hi oven being replaced. Old oven had a dedicated 32 amp 6mm supply  with cooker conection unit. New oven comes with plug - Any ideas best way to connect this up?

Thinking along the lines of downgrade mcb to 16amp - change ccu to fcu to take the 6mm - connect the fcu to a single socket in 2.5mm?

Or take plug off cooker flex and downgrade mcb to 16amp as above and conect cooker flex directly to ccu.

Dont really want to be riping the walls apart ..thanks for any help

Change the cooker connection plate for a socket and plug your oven in, there is no need to derate the circuit as the MCB is there to protect the cable,,,, the fuse in the plug will protect the oven.

^^^^^what he said above

The appliance will only draw the current that it needs

Best way to think of it is that the appliance "sucks" the current that it requires....it is NOT "force fed it".....a bit of a simplistic view, but i think it is a good analogy.

Someone with far less experience than i have will be along shortly to say otherwise

would rather chop plug off and hardwire to cooker point. It would be a good idea to de-rate MCB to suite cooker lead, but not essential, cooker manufacturer would have fitted suitably sized cable, and oven won't draw more than it's designed to.

Just fit a socket and plug it in. I wouldnt change MCB, if they change the cooker in the future to  more powerful one then it will have to be changed again

if its on a plug its also much easier to disconnect it if you are doing any repairs and need to move it further away from its home

wouldn't put immersion on a socket, wouldn't put oven on a socket for same reason, especially as quite a few vent steam / heat at the rear. It'll last for a few years no doubt, but hard-wired connection is superior in my opinion.
