Not sure fitting a different plug or connection method would invalidate the warranty. Besides who has ever claimed off of warranty for something like this?
It has been said on here that cutting moulded plugs off white goods invalidates the warranty.

Going back to question - 1/Sockets etc should be fixed to permanent fabric of building - personally I think that includes kitchen units but some disagree

2/ Fixed kit like built in appliances muist be able to be isolated before removing whether that be FCU or socket in adjacent cupboard

3/ Free standing appliances can be pluged straight in behind unit ( so usually sso on wall)

4/ Cutting plugs off frequently invalidates warranty

5/ I also phoned MK sometime ago and believe they rate DSO at continuous 20A

Hope I haven't just re-itererated the same bumpf twice - I miss stuff cos I skim read :)

What a load of twaddle. No court in the land would uphold such nonsense.

As to the OP: I fit a 5A socket to the lights and a 5A plug to the amp.

They might say that but they'd have a difficult time not honouring their warranty because someone has cut the plug off and wired it to an appropriate source correctly.

This whole subject is why I don;t tend to fit amps in lofts that require power unless there is already a socket to hand for the job. I fit amps that will take a phantom power feed from one of the inputs and put the power supply behind one of the TV's.

I would like to see a manufacturer bring such a warranty case to court being that the electrician is beter qualified than the guy in china working in his shed wiring hundred of cables to pins ready for the plug mouders :^O .

Id either go down the route of the 5 amp plug or the FCU but either way make sure that it is labeled.
