Parking in central manchester

My turn to ask a question of the forumites

present wife has decreed that we need to go shopping in Manchester for the day prior to going to an event in the evening at the Manchester Arena

its years since I went to Manchester 

so, has anybody got any advice on the best place to park for the day and into the evening OR do we park,for the day then move later for the Arena.?

It’s years since I went to Manchester city centre, even then I’d park up and go in on the tram or train.

Where are you coming from? I usually get the train into Manchester as the MEN is adjacent to the platform. Trains run pretty late. 

The shopping area is an easy walk from the station too, although I haven't wandered into there for a few years now.

last time i was there hotel had its own car park...

Park in Leeds and get the train, you may find your car has disappeared when you return though.

You won't find parking for under £60 / day here plus you will have to come back after 4 hrs to move your car!
