Just had a phone call a friend of mine as coverted is garage into a room

the building inspector called in while looking at some building work being done in the street

He has done the electrics him self and she said you need to get apart p

cert He has ask me to do a EIC for him but i said i cannot cert sombody else

work but will give you a PIR on it

he phoned buiding control and she said that he would still have to pay for somebody to come down to inspect the work

even if he ripped it all out and let me do the work

i was under the impression if you not with a scheme provider

you could still d0 the work if you nottifie them

and submitt the EIC for a smaller fee

I am little confused how does this work

thanks

LABC may give a reduced fee if an unregistered installer provides EIC, but its upto them.

however, LABC cannot charge extra to send someone to I&T - it must be included in the price

if he is a friend of yours, and he work does comply, then you could help him write his own EIC...

but depending on what work he has done, it may only need an MWC for lighting and MWC for sockets

He as put a new sockets and new lighting point in but not connected to the cu yet as the cu was in the garage he went that way

building officer said it would cost him

if LABC want to I&T, let them.

but, unless its in a special location, then if you were to connect the circuits to DB to an existing circuit (i.e lighting to existing lights, and extend the ring), then it would not be notifiable and only require MWC. add new MCB's and it will need notified and EIC.
