thanks for all the replys guys,

LUX levels have been discussed and office manager has been made aware of the implications of this and this has been agreed with our office in writing aparently.

tried the removing a tube thing, makes it look a bit unbalanced, :(

might have a look at this gel stuff, have used something similar before but to change the complete colour, not the harshness, mmmm, worth a try anyhoo I suppose. thanks everyone, some good ideas to ponder.

ps, DIMMABLE is deffo NO NO, too much hassle and money.

Steps. What is the colour temperature of the lamps in place? 4000 K to 6000 K perhaps..

Maybe a 2700 K or 3000 K tube might reduce the 'harshness' of the light.

yep, its 5300 at the mo, have put a couple of 3000somethings in at the mo,

they gonna give them a couple of days see what they think of them.

typical women bitching in offices where one says its too bright and another wants more light. :_| :_|

Sounds good Steps, let them get used to it.

I've always gone by the idea of overall lighting and task lighting. Go and talk to the office manager and get them to task light each workstation. Then they have a lot more personal control about what level they want.

To paraprase: You can please some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time!
