Did a PIR on a 3 bed semi requested after diy socket move resulted in burnt cables in kitchen behind tiles,,

repaired it and recommend the PIR

put an estimate in and they were shocked ... here it is

upgrade consumer unit ,,,, recessed at the moment may need to surface mount which would require extending cables

upgrade main earth and bonding (short easy runs)

Combi boiler radial no r1+r2 investigate/repair

Outbuilding spur to fuse correctly at ring point

broken cpc on upstairs lighting,,,investigate repair

Kitchen light no r1+r2

investigate ring cct 4mm on one side 2.5mm on other leaving cu. readings indicates spurs/bridges etc

Replace worn metal sockets

Replace metal light switches where no cpc available on switch drop

pricing of fault finding is really tricky...

so you have to cover your arse.

However if the investigations and repairs are quick n easy

then you could always give a discount.

Fault finding is always a "how long is a piece of string" type of thing. Having said that, it doesn't sound too bad and you have already done all the testing in prep for a CU change, so I'd say you are

put an estimate in and they were shocked

going by the extent of the defects listed there

THey will also probably be shocked - physically if they dont have the work done.

did they agree to the price or are you still waiting to hear from them ?

a1spark.

cu change, bonding, tails, main earth, extending cables, rcd testing 1 day

rewire lights in loft,,,replace boiler cable,,change double socket to a duel socket for outbuilding feed,,investigate r1+r2 fault in kitchen light 1 day

replace worn sockets, switches investigate ring fault as far as i can go without lifting boards then split ring to 2 radials if required 1 day

1/2 day for over run

lots for furniture to be moved in bedrooms.

still waiting,,,,i would expect to hear tomorrow

i was also asked a price for a rewire.....we shall see

the job has complications with tennants, agency, landlord, council

so thats why the remedials are so long

didnt list the code fours in my original post....

Well,,,,had a meeting with the landlady today

got the job,,,,,

ive now got to fit it in :(

Yeah, given the extra info I'd tend toward agreeing with Init.

You could try telling the Landlord that if the tenants don't move some of the furniture or tidy up, it'll cost more. Suggest to him that if they don't he should take the 'extra' out of their deposit (local chap I work for did just that when I went to one of his houses and spent 2 days doing a 1 day job).

I did tell the landlady that it was subject to the fault finding.

They were told that if the ring couldnt be fixed then it would become 2 radials

replacing boiler cable 30 min job

will let you know how quick it takes
