Got a call from on of my customers saying their security light won't stop turning on.

Apparently it's fine until you trigger the PIR once, then after that, it will time out and trigger again then do this non-stop until you isolate it.

My initial thought is it's just faulty so I'm planning to replace it, but I thought I'd question it here because it's a bit of a strange problem.

Is it a BG Gaurdian 2000 just out of interest? Had this issue with those and soon as you isolate it and re-energise it they either work fine for a few days or carry on triggering after its timed out, just ended up replacing them with a different fitting and taking them back

can't seem to find the model number, but it was this one:

140

I went round to look at a job yesterday and exactly the same problem. Heard of it before and think it's quite common that this happens or they pack in completely. I'm just replacing whole fitting too mate

As has been said the PIR electronics going AWOL is not uncommon, sometimes caused by damp and water getting inside the enclosures that are supposed to be weatherproof! I think some of these plastic enclosures can distort when you fix them to the wall so the covers do not close fully.
