There was nothing wrong with the socket, just the plug tester shows its ok where the multifunction show not so good...

Plug testers.jpg

Conduit earth, with a fault somewhere in the concrete.

try testing it without trip lok on,

it prob does have a bad earth,

but, at best, most testers with trip lok give random results from what Ive seen.

to prove it yourself do a test with and then without it.

Sorry I meant there is nothing wrong with the double socket it's self.

There was a problem. Testing with trip lock off gave >1999 if memory serves. It was a while ago.

Was just highlighting the limitation of plug tester.

all i use them for is a quick visual of if the socket is on or off... still stick the T140 on the terminals before touching any connections though

Basically we were doing remedial a after pir, socket flagged as high Earth loop. Circuit Id was wrong so listening for the beep to stop.

Just thought this shows, very clearly, that they are not testers

Whats the 'tip lock' function?

is it so RCD does not trip during loop test.

My tester has a 'low current' setting which does not trip the RCD. Its results are also useless, so i usually calculate the Zs.
