Hi

Was down my local shop today to pick up 4 Wylex mcb's the ones that replace the rewireable fuses.

Now the chap told me if I was doing the work (he knows I'm not yet part P ) the work is "notifiable" so I can't do it.

He then said, get your friend to come down and buy them herself and if she fitted them that would be fine as its her own house.

So is this right ?? is it notifiable and if so how can the householder do this and not having to tell anyone??

Thanks for your time,

Jane

If it's notifiable then it's notifiable. Doesn't matter who buys the stuff, or who installs it.

Your man is probablly getting confused with gas Regulations.

Im sure Wickes sell them (if you have Wickes up there) but yes notifiable so ccts will need testing. Can the householder do notifiable work? Would have to call building control to have it tested afterwards.

Thought you didnt have Part P in Scotland?

Cheers
