Poor driving standards

I suppose its a mathematical probability that as the traffic increases the standard of driving declines .

During the last 3 - 4 weeks I 've had that many drivers pulling out in front of me  I started turning the headlights on during daylight .....it didnt make much difference TBH .

The most worrying in this area is the number of drivers who are jumping red lights ... this type of thing is happening ...say when I get to the white line at traffic lights at 30MPH  and they change to amber as I cross the line ......... in the mirrors I see another two vehicles  follow me across .     They have both crossed on a red  light  and this is getting really common . 

As we all know some drivers waiting for a green will take off like bats from hell , not expecting another two cars to cross.

You want to try London then deke, only this morning I'm in a queue of traffic on a single carriage way road, not only do I have to contend with the weaving motorcyclists and cyclists, and the ignorant car users that believe they have a right to use the bus lane up the inside of me, there suddenly appears another car driving down the outside of me towards oncoming traffic who then expects other ahead of me to let him in? Personally I think we the sensible drivers should be permitted to taser these imbeciles as clearly they don't understand the concept of the Highway Code and are a risk to the rest of us.

Usually someone in a shiney 4x4 expecting someone else of their ilk to let them in  although everyone has waited 20 minutes for the lights.

Roundabouts still my issue... nobody round here understands roundabouts, it seems to have evolved into whoever has the biggest vehicle goes first, with the addition of the uber drivers not even having a basic understanding of the highway code, multiplying in the hundreds daily it won't be long til total gridlock!

Since the summer I've been teaching my son to drive (he's just past his test). Nearly every time we went out we experienced really bad driving, which he noticed and each time it served as a warning to him what to expect!

Jumping off red lights seems to be the norm these days round here, normally by people on the phone.

Ah roundabouts.  Why can people not realise, if you are turning right, you approach the roundabout in the right hand lane, and you go round the roundabout in the right hand (inside) lane.  I just hate those who approach in the left then go all the way round in the left lane and sometimes not even bothering to indicate. A case of "guess when they are going to turn off"

hum... I taught my son to ignore indicators on other cars on roundabouts as most are simply misleading........ if not dam dangerous - I told him to watch cars very closely!

Roundabouts......go around in the outside lane then at the very last second Cut straight across the inside lane to your turn off. I wa told to move to the left after the prior turnoff to yours so to,be in the correct lane

in a traffic queue last week at some lights, only 6 cars a time get through. It's near a junction by a school, nightmare. Twonk accelerates up outside, whizzes around queued traffic, and turns left.   Where is a plod car when you need it!!! Well in this case the unmarked police car was at the front of the queue....and he sat here and did nothing as the miscreant driver drove straight into the back of a marked police car!

cutting the wrong side of pedestrain islands and other road stuff seems to be becoming increasingly popular. Trouble is once 1 moron does it, others think it is legitimate to drive just as badly.

shouldn't be too much of an issue as most people don't indicate anymore :^O

I can’t drive now but can still get mixed up in RTA’s. Pink Minx and I were in a taxi last week when it was backended by a merc van driven by a woman, in turn a merc SL backended the van, again driven by a w………………. This all took place in a box junction, Nottingham ground to a halt.

So one of my other "beefs" - on a road, waiting to turn right into a side road, long line of vehicles coming the other way ...... will somebody "pause" and let you in .... no.... so a long queue forms behind you......

I don't see why though.

The only reason driving standards are declining is that we are not allowed to offend people nowadays so we do the British thing and just give any old retard a driving licence as it might upset them if we tell them they have failed. Driving standards are declining because there is not enough training, too low standards to pass the test and nothing that really puts people of driving however they like. People who do not correctly use indicators should be fined/shot on sight. Same for using the wrong lane on the motorway, or on a roundabout etc.

As it is now you can pretty mucyh do whatever you like and you might get a fine for some meagre amount. Who cares? No-one, that's who. That is why driving standards are terrible.

Having just spent the last week working in London, the standard of driving is appalling. Downright dangerous, I'm sure people seem to try and cause accidents.

slight OT, but has anyone noticed that most roundabouts now dont have a right arrow on the ground approaching only straight, especially 2+ lanes? even if its left or right, you have a left and straight on arrow

I've only noticed arrows for the most part where the left lane is for left only rather than the standard straight on or left. Seems fairly logical to me.

This pretty much reflects the mental attitude to society. Rather than make anything challenging to the individuals so that they have to work at being good, the standards have been generically lowered to suit the weakest in society. Therefore everything has now become a race to the lowest denominator. 

Maybe the old sport adage of 'The team is only as good as the weakest player' has been taken too far? 

What we need is a radical awakening on the way we think and approach things for if we don't then where will we all be in years to come? A few rich people controlling literally everything and the rest living in third world conditions and that's in this country.

Its a bit like the fine for no insurance - £600 and rarely do people get fined that much and then you wonder why 1 in 20 vehicles are not insured!

Make the fine 2 x the actual premium, enforce the law properly, and then thing may change.

Its a bit like not having tax discs .... the number of untaxed vehicles has increased..... so thats a great saving!

No, it is nothing to do with training and tests, it is all the immigrants here that do not give a ****. They will ignore any penalty notices and the like and the police have not the resources to chase it up. The police are scared of them as the first thing they wil say is that they are being picked on by the police because they are black/ foreign/ muslim whatever. Anyone that doubts this please tell me why the thing with all the young girls in nottingham or whereever it was got totally ignored, same reason. My other half had the misfortune to rent a flat where one of the other tenants runs a cannabis farm. Think the police are interested?? you must be joking.

Just stop them, no documents or cannot prove who you are?? No worries, crush the car ON THE SPOT, you can get a mobile car crusher, the police should get one..
