wonder what blades will fit?
Only the one that came with it and no others and you can't buy a replacement blade on its own! But the motor will probably burn out before the blade wares out. Actually Aldi do have some quite reasonable offers on some of their stuff. I have had a nice little multi pattern spray attachment for the garden hose, and a decent wrought iron wall mounted window basket and some very cheap bird feeders. But I don't think I would purchase any power tools unless it was for very infrequent use. I think these items are aimed at the DIY/hobby market not the professional trades person.

Disagree with most of that Doc. I bought one of these two years ago, Bosch and Fein blades fit fine and the motor hasn't burnt out! Power tool snobbery amongst Electricians amuses me. I use mine perhaps an hour a month, I can't justify Bosch or Fein.

I'm a Fan of "value" power tools.

MY no name SDS drill that cost me

Thank you for your review Riggy, as I said I have not bought any power tools from Aldi, so I was making assumptions from other cheap non-brand or own brand products from places like B&Q or Wickes. I once purchased a cheap electric sander from B&Q, I think it lasted 14 or 15 months before it went in the bin. That was occasional home use decorating, skirting's, doors etc. As you say it is a big price difference to the Bosch & Fein, I am not convinced it is all just the brand name in the extra cost.

It would be good if a few of our members purchase one of these and can then give a real working review of how they find it.

I pass by Aldi if I take the 'long' route home (about 1/4 mile longer! :) ),

I'll call in on the way home see if my local one has any in stock,

Ive actually got a job at home that it would be perfect for, I could manage without one, but will deffo take me an hour or so to do something I would hope this can do in 5or10mins.

I had seen this in the paper booklet thing that Mrs SL bought back from one of her shopping trips...

ALDI fruit is very good value IMHO...

As is their fruit juice & lemonade.

anyway.. from an uneducated quick look at the ALDI advertising blurb...

when compared with the rich mans tool...

MultiMaster Professional Power Tool | Fein MultiMaster Official Site

I am guessed the blade fixing method is a different....

e.g. no quick release lever...

bit like comparing a keyless chuck drill & a keyed chuck!

That said ...

I ain't got the rich mans tool...... :(

may possibly pick one of the poor mans option up to see how its goes... :)

also, did you know.....

ALDI do some very nice toffee's.....

trouble is..

once the bags been opened and you have had one...

Me and me youngest lad just find them irresistable...

Then Mrs SL gets all angry and tells us off for eating them all! :|

I know Wickes own brand drills were Bosh and showers were Triton under the skin from what i recall.

Some of the showers are still Triton... But not 100% sure if they all are?

I know a long time back they did have a different make....

Bit of not putting all their eggs in one basket as it were!

But I cant remember who it was though??? :( :C

I bought a Wickes orbital sander and hot air paint stripper about 20 years ago when I moved house, both are still going stong after a LOT of use, can't comment on any of the current stuff though,

If we are comparing non-brand (own-brand) products with established brand leader names......

I once compared some own brand supermarket beer and larger and cider with know "quality brand"

and I have to be honest and say the own-brand stuff matched the quality brand stuff.....

for its overall life-span cycle between; can.. to glass... to consumed!

]:)

dunno if that helps anyone tho??? :innocent  :C

Are we alright to go off-topic yet??????

I bought my Multi function tool from Aldi this morning.

Very pleased with it. Cuts through wood like a knife through butter.

The wood cutting tool is all i'm likely to use it for.

But it came with a detail sanding tool and a couple of packets of sanding pads for it. Though I won't use this tool as a sander, the pads rather conveniently fit my B&D detail sander, right down to the holes for dust extraction lining up. Perhaps that's a clue as to who makes this tool?

Thanks ProDave, keep us updated with how it performs out on real jobs.
