Thank you, I for one will from now on never take the risk.I have to be very careful as my case is still in the 'public' eye - as it becomes a case for the CPS once criminal charges are brought and I cannot reveal too much about my individual case. It just makes me feel physically sick when I hear of corners being cut. My ex-directors have million pound houses, super cars, several exclusive hols a year etc etc and didn't give a carp about anyone as long as things moved on quickly and contracts increased in size and profit grew rapidly. My view is that we were / are viewed as expendable in the quest for selfish riches. One of my greatest childhood mentors died of asbestosis in her 40's (she was a property developer in the naughties) and It really is more common than many think and is becoming more and more prevalent. The government needs to be as focussed as it can be on this killer and we, as trades need to ensure WE reduce the risk of exposure. Think for yourselves I urge you as nobody else will bother!
its in just about anything you can think of. wallpaper, floor tiles, pipe lagging. unfortunately, no amount of legislation or elf n safety will stop all exposure to it (still reduce it though)can I just ask how many of us has drilled for a downlight in artex?if it was artexed before 2000 then it was probably containing asbestos.
I really dread to think of the amount of artex and various other assy boards I have drilled through in my lifetime thus far.
