Not happy, just lost power!

Resorting to laptop battery & iPad wifi hotspot on 4G.

At least 75 properties off, and could be more widespread, looks like an HV side fault due to the spread of power outages.

Only 2 miles West of Wales' 2nd City!

Best WPD estimate 8:30-11:30 pm for restoration.

How long with the lappy last?...

I have WORK to do!

Nope!

As I pressed the post button the power came back on, it had been off for about 15 mins.

Still on, DS 2413 got a little upset & emailed me!

Better do a disk check I think.

We'll have to see what happens yet...

I was in the middle of working, thank goodness the document was on the lappy so I managed to save my data.

It is quite unusual to get a drop out here these days.

Perhaps we had better get more used to it the way things are going.

Man of your skill could rig up a system like this, if you have the time.

One of my flash customers who has loads of money got the hump after the last power cut during strong winds. He got himself a gas generator straight after. I think he is now desperate for a power cut so he can show off to his neighbors.

It's odd that you should mention power cuts, we had one two nights ago, lasted almost an hour? Strange but no apparent reason for it, is it a sign of things to come???!

East coast.

From what I have heard, yes it is.

Ours corresponded with the start of the World Cup it seems, not that I was watching it, but doing a Post Mortem it seems that way.

So, if that is all that is needed to bring the network down then lord help us, & I believed WPD were one of the better DNO's!

AH.

That explains the `phone call from my brother, who`s a couple of miles from you ( Gorseinon.)

Seems there were 3 "blips" in ten mins -

The first took out the PC and make the cooker timer "ding" - but nothing else.

The second flicked the TV picture, and took the pc out - nowt else.

The third just fuffed his PC - I said about backups, and got:

"I`ve never done a backup on any of my computers, ever. Wouldn`t know how; don`t care `cos there`s nothing I`d lose that I can`t recover from cloud / interweb"

" Fair enough" says I.

But I didn`t know about your problem - must have happened whilst missus was on the way to Tesco, then?

Better hope England don't play in the afternoon. ...I'm guessing after many decades of not investing in infrastructure and power stations were forked until we give the french & Chinese a warehouse full of cash and wait 10 years for them to build a new power station which by then will be to late.....

I'm investing in 150Ah batteries and pure sine wave inverters, already got a stash of ikea tea lights ;)

@ pewter thanks for the link :) I forgot what he was called so couldn't find his video's.

WPD rung me this morning to apologise for the outage!

They put it down to a grass fire on a nearby common which was at the base of a pole, so they had to pull the fuses to make safe to check the lines & pole.

I would guess do to the area of the outage an HV pole.

An LV I would have thought they would do live.
