got this question on a collage paper can you show me how to work the problem out ?

a circuit has a resistance of 20ohms and an inductive reactance of 15ohms when connected to an a.c. supply. the impedance of the circuit is ?

i got 25ohms some how.Blushing

a lot of these questions do tend to use a standard 3,4,5 right angle triangle

where hypotenuse =5

long edge =4

short edge =3

so you can often do it in your head...

as

20 is 4 x 5

15 is 3 x 5

hypotenuse must be 5 x 5 = 25!
