Only if places like B & Q stopped selling to the public, will it stop DIY bob from having a go! ?:|
I am off the understanding that you cannot do any gas work unless you are a member of the Gas Safe scheme even as a DIY jobDoes the change to "qualified person" put an end to DIY gas work then? Before you all ask, up until now it's been legal for any "competent" person to do gas work in their own home (I have always done my own) it only becomes an offence when you do gas work for others without being a registered gas installer.
No-one would pay to police it, that's why you can buy gas fittings in DIY stores. Ridiculous idea anyway, competent person is fine, but most people seem to think that qualification = competency, and not just as a tradesman, it's a general misunderstanding.Should be that made law unless you can prove you are electrically qualified and competent (EG JIB grading Card or similar photo ID with electrical qualifications) then no electrical items like sockets, cable etc can be sold to the purchaser.
Nope, he's right AFAIAA.I am off the understanding that you cannot do any gas work unless you are a member of the Gas Safe scheme even as a DIY job
not that i know of. i think its always been a case of you can DIY gas in your own property. you only need to be corgi/gas safe if its for someone elseI am off the understanding that you cannot do any gas work unless you are a member of the Gas Safe scheme even as a DIY job
Good call, one example being the 65% pass grade in 2382 open book exam, qualified yes, but competent to fiddle around in peoples houses, hmmmcompetent person is fine, but most people seem to think that qualification = competency, and not just as a tradesman, it's a general misunderstanding.
The world has gone potty . You must have had steam coming out of your ears to be doubted of your competence by someone who is probably not familiar with the NICEIC or the other scheme providers and what knowledge you have to have to become registered with them in the first place . :_|NoNo
No
Well, dont hold your breath
apparently not
Im a bit personal about this at the moment cos Ive just had a big row with a CSCS stoopid woman this week that told me I wasnt competent cos I didnt have an NVQ,
makes you wonder why NICEIC ever assessed me fine as a QS,
worlds going mad!!!!
MAD I TELL YE..!

Under the present rules you can, as long as you are competent.I am off the understanding that you cannot do any gas work unless you are a member of the Gas Safe scheme even as a DIY job
