UNRAR for ubuntuYou'll need to install the package as by default the archive manager won't have it installed
and do you know what?

I have it installed,

dunno why, musta had to do this before for something, :C

oh well, thanks everyone for the pointers, :D

every time i use winrar i get a message saying 'plese note winrar is shareware. after 40 days you must either register it or remove from your computer. options: online registration, how to buy, close & help.

or the little red X in the message box and you can use the program as normal....

While I would agree with all the above comments, as someone who has spent most of the last 30 years writing computer programs for money do remember this is a skilled job as well.

If the program is good and does what you want, support the developer by paying for it, especially the small ones like the winrar team, if they don't get some money back they wont produce it anymore, and it is a nice program.

After all I don't think many of us would go to work each day, then turn around and say "Pay me if you feel like it".

And

A good free windows RAR program I found is RAR Frog, I've used it for quite a few years as when I was younger and was at school, buying software was a little low on my list as of not earning money and all that. I didn't want to get a hacked version either as never trusted computer program's incase of viruses etc.
