Hi,

I bought a pair of ratchet crimpers from a choice of 2.

The first ones only crimped red, blue and yellow but the second crimped lugs upto 16mm so I went for them.

When looking closely at the jaws which crushes into the crimps theres only one V which dents into the crimps whereas the ones me dads got put three rings into the crimp. If you can understand what im getting at.

Hope i havent bought poo poo ones.

unusual never seen cripmers that do both regular red, blue, yellow and upto 16mm non insulated

have you seen the new colour crimps X( brown black grey

Single ones, are the new type.

They're the ones that I bought, within the last 4 Years, at least.

The ones me dads got do not crush the crimp with a V shaped bit like these do but sort of do a triple indent round the crimp

I bought similar crimpers from screwfix & took them back soon after, they maybe good for larger crimps but destroy the smaller ones.

Also the crimpers with the 3 vertical plates or rings seem to be a lot cheaper, sometimes as little as

nice one thanks

Do you recon they will ever get used doing housebashing?

or will the others be the ones to get?

Thanks

unlikely to use uninsulated crimps for house bashing. really, the only time they would get used would be if you crimped an ring terminal onto the 10mm

yea i think the 'v' crimp is for non insulated lugs as they are a more sturdy mechanical connection. others are for red,y and b. Does anybody know where a good set of lug crimpers can be bought?

TIP: don`t buy the insulated crimpers that TLC have at the mo - they`re carp. The "SWA" make are the dogs danglies, AFAIAC.

For uninsulated, same as Andy™ - As Tony says:"They`re Greeeeeat!"

I've had a pair of SWA make of ratchet crimpers that have seen a fair bit of use for a few years now and are still going strong . I'm happy with them .
